Painting your own chalk board is about as easy as, well...painting!
On our project Day-O-Fun we covered two unbelievably boring, non-communicable doors into fantastic message boards!
The Fixin's: pint of Rust-oleum Chalk Board paint (about $8 at Home Depot)
small dense foam roller
paint tray
painters tape
small paint brush
What To Do:
Step 1: Make sure your chalk paint is mixed super well. The nice people at the hardware store can shake it up for you when you buy it.
Step 2: Pick which mediocre surface you want to associate with your grade-school-day ways and wipe clean.
Step 3: Sand any rough or textured areas and tape off your boarders.
Step 4: Begin painting one thin, even layer at a time. Use your small brush for extra precision around the edges.
Step 5: Allow several hours of dry time then cover with another layer. Repeat this step another time or two until your surface is completely and evenly covered.
Step 6: Wait 3 days, yes 3! Be patient...do a puzzle! After 3 days, carefully remove the tape from the edges.
Step 7: Take a step back. See that? You got yourself a chalk board, baby!!!
