Santa Potato Head's Oatmeal Cookie Jar Mixes
It's the perfect way to give someone you love fresh made cookies, while reminding them you're not their Mother and if they want something done they need to do it themselves!
The Fixin's:
3 C Rolled Oats (For a Gluten Free option use Trader Joe's)
1 1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 C sugar
3/4 C brown sugar
6 oz. chocolate chips
1/2 chopped walnuts (optional)
Large canning jar with lid
Ribbon
What To Do:
Step 1 Wash and dry (thoroughly) your canning jar.
Step 2 Pour 1 C of the rolled oats into the bottom of the jar.
Step 3 Next add 3/4 C of brown sugar, another 1 cup layer of oats and the baking soda.
Step 4 Sprinkle in the layer of 6 oz chocolate chips - don't mind the kitty!
Step 5 Add the walnuts if your recipients aren't allergic*, 3/4 C of sugar and top with the final 1 C layer of oats. (*I opted out of using the walnuts in this demonstration.)
Step 6 Tightly secure your lid closed and tie a festive ribbon around the crease.
Step 7 This is the most important step - especially if you're giving this to a boy. Write down the baking instructions along with the remaining ingredients needed for this recipe.
Complete Oatmeal Cookie Recipe:

1 C peanut butter (again if your recipient has a nut allergy they can use an alternative)
3 C Rolled Oats (For a Gluten Free option use Trader Joe's)
1 1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 C sugar
3/4 C brown sugar
6 oz. chocolate chips
1/2 chopped walnuts (optional)
Baking Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl mix the wet ingredients until creamy. Then gradually add the jarred ingredients. Mix well. Add spoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes.
