Bacon Bowls

It all began when I invited the 'Best Men' over for dinner. The plan was to surprise Peter with a wife free, food filled, Guys Night. What better food to make for the guys then Bacon?!

The Fixin's:
  • Bacon (one pack makes about two bowls)
  • Tin Foil
  • Small Bowls
  • Baking Sheet
  • Fire Extinguisher - NOT KIDDING!
What To Do:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees

Step 2: Cover a baking sheet with tin foil along with your small bowls, placed upside down on the baking sheet. (An alternative to this step is to use a large muffin pan in place of the small bowls.)

Step 3: Begin placing the strips of raw bacon over the bowls starting with a criss-cross pattern for the bottom. Continue to weave the strips of bacon together until the entire bowl is covered.

Step 4: Just like in the pan the strips will shrink so despite what the American Heart Association may say: More bacon is BETTER!!! Add additional strips into the weaves to cover any gaps or secure any overlaps.

Step 5: Bake time! Place your sheet into the oven and set the timer for 10 minutes.

*This is where the fire extinguisher comes in. If for any unfortunate reason a grease fire may occur immediately turn off the oven and extinguish. Oh yeah, and I guess there's these people you can call and they'll come help you if you need them to. They can be reached at 911.

Step 6: Depending on the layers of bacon and it's thickness, some areas may cook faster then others, so once your timer goes off carefully remove the baking sheet (Carefully! Watch for grease!). If certain areas are cooking slower, rotate the bowls and place into the oven for another 5 minutes.

Step 7: Continue to repeat step 6 until the exposed surface of the bacon is fully cooked.

Step 8: Let the baking bowls cool completely.

Step 9: Slowly peel the bacon bowls from around the tin foil, flip the bowls right side up and place the woven bacon inside so the uncooked side is facing up.

Step 10: Repeat steps 5 through 8 using five minute increments.

Step 11: You did it! After all that work you're probably starving!!!

  1. OMG!! These are awesome! Who says bacon doesn't make everything better? I need to use it for some kind of a breakfast pie! Yum!
